Dear Croosaders,

It has been nearly 10 months since Croosade first opened its gates. In that time, we have strived to deliver to you the most feature-complete Pre Big Bang server ever made. Recently, we have reached the point where v92 does not offer any more content to code (apart from events) and there were no more real bugs to fix.
The problem we see now with Pre-BB servers (or any server that is stuck on a particular version, really) is that they become stale after a while. This is especially true for higher levels, but also making new characters becomes a boring experience after a while because nothing in the game itself ever changes. In the end, Pre-BB is something that is fun to come back to for a few weeks (or months if you really love it) once every while, but it is hard to keep players hooked for the long term. I'm not saying it would be impossible to keep it interesting, but that would entail developing tons of custom content, which admittedly is not our strong suit. We've made it clear from the beginning that we'd rather avoid making too many custom changes to v92. What we excel at is providing a server for the game as Nexon intended it to be.

In all the time we've been hosting Croosade, no week has passed by where players didn't suggest one of the following things:
  • Skill updates and formula improvements (especially Mages)
  • Lion King's Castle
  • Ultimate Explorer/Empress's Blessing
  • Resistance jobs
  • Cygnus Knights Lv. 200
  • Account buddies
  • Anvil
  • Indicator how an equip will affect your range
  • Increased damage cap
  • Improved World Map UI
  • Improved Monster Book system
We have concluded that for many of our players, v92 actually isn't a good fit and that they're craving for something more modern. That's why we've decided to create a second server, starting at v95.

Before you panic, rest assured: Croosade v92 is here to stay. It will not be limited or changed for the worse in any way, and it will keep receiving minor updates (e.g., expansions of the Fusion system) and events. It will continue to run in parallel to our new server and any progress you've made on v92 is and will be safe. In fact, service quality for it has been improving since it has been migrated to the new host.

Progressive Server:
As hinted above, the server will run v95 at release, but that's only the beginning. We will be continuously updating to higher versions (at most 5 patches at a time - the next update will probably be v100). You will have the unique opportunity to experience the transformation MapleStory went through in this decade all over again, with big patches like Ascension, Legends, Tempest, Cygnus Awakening and RED looming on the horizon all the time! We cannot tell you with certainty at what pace we will release updates, but I expect figures like 1 to 2 months per update (do not take my word for it!), depending on the size of the patches we're including.

Game Changes:
  • Victoria Island has received a complete overhaul, with Six Path Crossway now being its central point.
  • The EXP curve has been flattened.
  • Skills for many jobs have been streamlined. Adventurers have received some new skills. Details are in the spoiler below.
  • All formulas have been improved to be more consistent across the game.
  • All cosmetic coupons have been consolidated. This means that all towns use the same coupon.
  • Lens color changes can only be made using the One-Time Cosmetic Lens found in the cash shop. However, you may still view different options using the NPC.
  • The previous system of entering your birthday when gifting items and purchasing certain items has been replaced with entering your PIC. This means PIC is now mandatory. However, we know that no one likes clicking their PIC so we made it possible to type it instead.
  • Time limit for Zakum, Chaos Zakum, Horntail, and Chaos Horntail have been lowered.
  • Daily reset for bosses is now at 00:00 UTC.
Nexon did not provide a list of skill changes at the time, but since in our context it may be especially interesting how skills have changed compared to Pre-BB, Taboo has spent hours compiling a list:

You may have noticed that from the list at the top, only "Resistance jobs", "Skill updates and formula improvements (especially Mages)", "Improved World Map UI", and "Increased damage cap" will be available right at launch. We ask you to please be patient and wait until the rest becomes available in higher versions step by step. Importing features that will come in a later version anyway would cause a lot of unnecessary work for us. In case of very minor changes, we might decide to apply them pre-maturely, but only if it's not something client-sided and if doing the change early on will not cause additional work later on.


Game Customizations:
The Croosade Point system will no longer be available on the new server. It was an idea we had while we were developing the v92 server, but it was very hard to make it work in terms of balance. Cash items that were in it will either move back into the Cash Shop or will be available for mesos. 2x EXP and Drop coupons will not be available. Later patches will offer enough content through which the rest of the items can be made available.

After the experiences we've made with Gachapon Tickets in the Cash Shop on v92, we've decided to try something else now. Gachapon Tickets will be a rare drop from all monsters. The same holds true for Miracle Cubes. Gachapon will constantly update as we update versions. Don't ever get too comfortable with what's inside the mystery machine!

The imported NX items and chairs that v92 has will not be available on the new server. They will become available with time as we update to higher versions.

We have elected Blue to take charge in the rotation of the Royal Hair and Royal Face cosmetics. She will be creating a thread dedicated to the rotations that will take place on a monthly basis until further notice.

New Staff Members:
Something else that has long been overdue is that we expand our team. Please give a warm welcome to our new Game Masters Blue and Mercy! Both are trustworthy friends of the administration and will help moderate all of our services.

Credits:
Credits are going to be tradeable in Big Bang. The pros far outweigh the cons for us and we would like for you to read our explanation.
Many cases of RMT bans in the Pre-Big Bang server could have been avoided if we provided a legitimate alternative. This not only puts less work on our staff to monitor trades but also helps the server stay online.
MapleStory isn't a competitive game. Some users may let their competitive nature get the best of them but two users are never directly put against each other where one who pays will beat the other.
We have no plans to add any item to the Credit Shop that will make users feel that it is a necessity to donate in order to play at the same level as another user. For example: A damage multiplier.
At the beginning, the shop will be very lack luster but more will be added as the server progresses.
We ask that you try and understand that the "pay to win" argument isn't as black and white as some may believe it to be.

Website:
The website will be expanded to accomodate both versions, with the ability to switch between them. Accounts will be shared, but characters won't be. Credits will also be shared between both servers, so if you have left-over Credits on v92, you will be able to spend them on v95. NX, however will not be shared. You will be able to vote for both servers every 6 hours.

Forums and Discord will also receive new sections where appropriate.

Ingame Names:
Those of you who have played Croosade v92 have an opportunity to reserve one IGN per person.
  • You may only reserve an IGN of a character on your own account.
  • The character must be Lv. 50 as of the release of this thread.
  • One week after free account IGN reservations, we will allow players to purchase one additional IGN for 5000 Credits. This is also limited to one per person. We recommend you submit orders early if you have plans on reserving one.
  • If a person is caught registering multiple IGNs in either case they will be banned for the week of launch and will have those IGNs removed from their account. No refunds will be made.
  • This is to disperse sought out for IGNs instead of running the risk that the IGN you may want will sit on a mule just waiting for a rainy day.
  • Reservation will be handled through Maple Administrator on v92.
  • You can claim the IGN on v95 by simply creating a character with that name. You must login on the same account you reserved it on, though. If you fail to claim your reservation within 4 weeks of server launch, the IGN will become FFA.

Developer Notes:
  • Croosade Big Bang is based on Croosade v92 technology and is a consequential continuation thereof in terms of development. All (non-custom) features that v92 has will be available on v95. All new skills and quests will be working at launch.
  • There will always be an upgrade path from an older version to a newer version. Unless you've been gone for a long time, it should never be necessary to completely redownload the game.
  • 1366x768 resolution will not be available until the patch where Nexon added it. Hacking it in and porting it across versions means too much maintenance work.
  • Croosade v95+ will be the only Post-BB MapleStory server that is compatible with Mac and Linux through Wine.

FAQ:
Q:
When will it be released?
A: We're currently in the beta testing phase. A possible release date is at the middle of the month.

Q: Can I transfer my character from v92?
A: No, everyone gets a fresh start.

Q: What are the rates going to be?
A: Same as v92, except that the meso rate will be lower: 4x Exp, 3x Drop, 2x Mesos.

Q: How far do you intend to take this?
A: We aren't sure yet. The latest versions of the MapleStory client are extremely bloated and perform very poorly, and some in the team have misgivings about one day updating to those versions. However, that's in the far future and there's a very long way to go until then.

Q: I don't like change X from version Y (e.g., job nerf), can you please not apply it when you update?
A: Sorry, we will generally not exclude changes that come with version updates, unless we really dislike them as well. That could be the case for changes that lessen the game's content (Destroyed NLC, anyone?).

Please don’t progress it too far.. maple started really turning to shit once the cap was lifted over a million so please cap the version. I will be happy with lion heart castle and such so the game will be a challenge still

Also since the exp required changed maybe lower the server rates

I'm a bit confused about the IGN part. If I'm understanding correctly, IGNs that aren't reserved by players who own them, will be available to take right when the server is released?

We will have free IGN reservation soon. A week after the release of that, we will open up all IGNs to everyone. But it will require a fee of 5000 credits,

hmmmm, I'm a bit reluctant about this. All the progress on v.92, with no way to carry over something. What about instead of a 1 time ign reservation it becomes a 1 time stripped character reservation?

Please do not expand the patches too far along Big Bang, the game got worse as it progressed to far. I suggest up to resistance and that’s it, but that is my opinion. Also I like to thank you croosade staff dealing with the nonstop request that we have made as a server.
